Archaeological Dig: Searching for Pieces of the Past

Saturday, April 8, 10:00 am until 2 pm

The public is invited to an archaeological dig to search for pieces of the past at the National Historic Wynne-Russell House in Lilburn. The Wynne-Russell Preservation Committee and the City of Lilburn want you to get your hands dirty by assisting archaeologists from the Gwinnett Archaeological Research Society (GARS) in uncovering history. 

The archaeological dig is being done by GARS to uncover artifacts that will educate and enlighten us about life in Lilburn in the 1800's. You will learn about archaeological techniques and processes used to uncover, preserve, and record history. A tour of the home will complement the dig, as you learn about the history of the Wynne-Russell Family and how Lilburn became what it is today.

The Society for Georgia Archaeology ArchaeoBUS will be on hand to provide further information about archaeology.

Members of the Wynne-Russell Historic Preservation Committee will be selling commemorative t-shirts with the Wynne-Russell House sketched by Kay Walton.


Cancer survivors please RSVP

The Lilburn Woman’s Club invites all cancer survivors to a complimentary reception at 5 pm on Friday, April 21 at the 1910 Public House private event room, 107 Main Street, Lilburn. At 6PM all Survivor's are invited to walk an honorary lap at the Rally in the Lilburn City Park. Survivors please RSVP to Sally Baker at sallysbaker20@gmail.com

Topics will include: - types of vegetables to grow in our area - how to care for them - how to produce a bountiful harvest The class is free, but you will need to register before noon, April 17th. Taste of Lilburn Update

Ten eateries will be featured at the Taste of Lilburn on Saturday, April 22, 1:00-4:00 pm. Fair Oaks Band featuring the Nicks Brothers will once again amaze us with their endless repertoir of our favorites. Participating eateries are: 1910 Public House, Matthews CafeteriaTaqueria Los HermanosThe Barn Smokehouse and SeafoodIzzy’s NY PizzaTaste of Paradise (Jamaican), Tipsy Pig BBQHardee’sMarco’s Pizza and Berkmar Culinary Arts. Advance online ticket holders will be VIPS for the event and will be admitted to the event at 12:30 pm. Tickets will be sold at the event as long as food samples last. 11th Annual Gwinnett County Supplier Symposium

The Gwinnett County Purchasing Division will host the 11th Annual Supplier Symposium on April 11, 2017, from 8:30am to 11:30am at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.  Attendees will meet buyers and contracting officers from the Purchasing Division and other metro Atlanta agencies and take advantage of networking opportunities designed to create relationships.  This year the Symposium will be interactive with various County Departments and Purchasing staff and will provide the opportunity to acquaint potential suppliers with the County’s procurement procedures.

Lilburn Farmers Market Wants Vendors

The Lilburn Farmers Market is accepting applications for the 8th season of their seasonal market operating every Friday in June, July and August from 4pm to 8pm located at 1400 Killian Hill Road, Lilburn, GA. The market is a producer only market and is seeking vendors of food and food related items. Applications are also being accepted for food trucks. 

The Lilburn Farmers Market is a community event and is seeking local non-profits to feature each week in their 'Booth for a Cause'.  This booth is gives local organizations an opportunity to educate market attendees about their cause.

 Partnering with Wholesome Wave Georgia, the Lilburn Farmers Market will again be associated with the Georgia Fresh for Less program which doubles the EBT/SNAP benefits on eligible purchases at the market.

 The Lilburn Farmers Market has recently been awarded the 2017 AgSouth Farm Credit's 'Think Outside the Store' grant to help promote the market and to encourage our community to think 'farm fresh' when planning their meals.

 The Lilburn Farmers Market is sponsored by Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church to provide a venue for local farmers and producers to sell their products directly to the consumer. More information about the market can be found at www.lilburnfarmersmarket.org.

Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 15

Visit with the Easter Bunny and find eggs hidden in Lilburn City Park! This free event begins at 10 a.m., with the egg hunt beginning promptly at 11 a.m., rain or shine.  

The Easter Egg Hunt is for children up to 12 years of age. Children will be divided into age categories, and there will be a separate special needs area. Parents are not allowed on the field, except with the 0-3 years age group and the special needs group.

Wynne-Russell Historic Preservation Committee

The committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at the Wynne-Russell House. The next meeting is April 12 at 5:00 pm. Visitors and new members are welcome. Check out the FACEBOOK page for information on the Paranormal Workshop on April 22 and the upcoming spring and summer house tours.

Lilburn Community Partnership Board  

The LCP Board, which meets four to six times, per year is currently looking for board members and volunteers to assist with events and the monthly Lovin'Lilburn newsletter.  The next board meeting is Wednesday, April 19 at 8:30 am at the Wynne-Russell House. The Wynne-Russell House, a beautiful historic home, is a wonderful venue for seated meetings of 25-30 and larger groups such as family reunions, showers, and weddings of up to 50 inside and 100 on the grounds. The Lilburn Arts Alliance announces our 2017 Spring Exhibit to be held on Saturday, April 15, from 10 am until 4 pm at Good Day Studio located at 79 Main Street, Suite A.

Berkmar High School

Berkmar High School’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Academy will host the school’s 2nd Annual Young Entrepreneur’s Shark Tank Scholarship Competition on Monday, 4/17/17, from 7:30am-11:00am in the school’s media center.  Students from two of the school’s entrepreneurship and marketing classes have been preparing for the past three months for this highly anticipated competition. 

Student entrepreneurs will be given 5 minutes to pitch their business plans to local business leaders with the hopes of convincing these community leaders that their proposal is worthy of investment. Participants are 2nd year students in either the Marketing Management or Business and Administration Career Pathways.  The stakes for this year’s Shark Tank event are higher due to an increased number in participants, community partner

Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 15

Visit with the Easter Bunny and find eggs hidden in Lilburn City Park! This free event begins at 10 a.m., with the egg hunt beginning promptly at 11 a.m., rain or shine.  

The Easter Egg Hunt is for children up to 12 years of age. Children will be divided into age categories, and there will be a separate special needs area. Parents are not allowed on the field, except with the 0-3 years age group and the special needs group.

Wynne-Russell Historic Preservation Committee

The committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at the Wynne-Russell House. The next meeting is April 12 at 5:00 pm. Visitors and new members are welcome. Check out the FACEBOOK page for information on the Paranormal Workshop on April 22 and the upcoming spring and summer house tours.

Lilburn Community Partnership Board  

The LCP Board, which meets four to six times, per year is currently looking for board members and volunteers to assist with events and the monthly Lovin'Lilburn newsletter.  The next board meeting is Wednesday, April 19 at 8:30 am at the Wynne-Russell House. Berkmar High School

Berkmar High School’s Entrepreneurship and Leadership Academy will host the school’s 2nd Annual Young Entrepreneur’s Shark Tank Scholarship Competition on Monday, 4/17/17, from 7:30am-11:00am in the school’s media center.  Students from two of the school’s entrepreneurship and marketing classes have been preparing for the past three months for this highly anticipated competition. 

Student entrepreneurs will be given 5 minutes to pitch their business plans to local business leaders with the hopes of convincing these community leaders that their proposal is worthy of investment. Participants are 2nd year students in either the Marketing Management or Business and Administration Career Pathways.  The stakes for this year’s Shark Tank event are higher due to an increased number in participants, community partner
