Tickets on Sale for A Doll's House   

Over the next week Staged Right Community Theatre, using the talents of Director Brian Jones and Set Designer Spencer Estes, will transform the Wynne Russell meeting room into a set for Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll's House." The audience will literally be in the living room of the Torvald and Nora's home as the play unfolds. 

You don't want to miss this opportunity to be part of the drama in the historic home. The production stars Ilene Miller in the pivotal role of Nora, with Spencer Estes opposite her in the role of Torvald. The show opens March 10, 2017 and runs for three weekends, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, (8 pm) and Sundays (2:30 pm). BECOME AN EXHIBITOR AT THE QUINCE GIRL EXPO

(Berkeley Lake, Ga., Feb. 22, 2017) – Quince Girl EXPO will be held on Saturday, Mar. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center. Party planning professionals are invited to feature interactive demonstrations, fashion shows and share ideas on planning the perfect Quinceañera celebration! The event is free for attendees and will feature do-it-yourself workshops.

Council Meeting Notes

The City Council for the City of Lilburn meets every 2nd Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.  Next meeting is Monday, March 10.

 

Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 15

Visit with the Easter Bunny and find eggs hidden in Lilburn City Park! This free event begins at 10 a.m., with the egg hunt beginning promptly at 11 a.m., rain or shine.  

The Easter Egg Hunt is for children up to 12 years of age. Children will be divided into age categories, and there will be a separate special needs area. Parents are not allowed on the field, except with the 0-3 years age group and the special needs group.

Taste of Lilburn and More

Restaurants are lining up for the fourth annual Taste of Lilburn which will take place on Saturday, April 22 from 1 - 4 pm in the Nash Pavilion at Lilburn City Park. Restaurants who have signed up as of today are: 1910 Public House, Oyster Barn and Smokehouse, Matthews Cafeteria of Tucker, Taste of Paradise Jamaican, Taqueria Los Hermanos, and Berkmar Culinary Arts. There is room under the expansive Pavilion roof for more. Deadline for participants is March 15. This has been a "sold-out" event since 2014. Organizers are updating the event website and tickets will go on sale soon at www.lilburnevents.com. This is a fundraiser for the Wynne-Russell Historic Home.  

The LCP Board, which meets four to six times, per year is currently looking for board members and volunteers to assist with events and the monthly Lovin'Lilburn newsletter.  The next board meeting is Wednesday, April 19 at 8:30 am at the Wynne-Russell House. Archaeological Dig: Searching for Pieces of the Past

The public is invited to an archaeological dig to search for pieces of the past at the National Historic Wynne-Russell House in Lilburn. The Wynne-Russell Preservation Committee and the City of Lilburn want you to get your hands dirty by assisting archaeologists from the Gwinnett Archaeological Research Society (GARS) in uncovering history.

The archaeological dig is being done to uncover artifacts that will educate and enlighten us about life in Lilburn in the 1800's. You will learn about archaeological techniques and processes used to uncover, preserve, and record history. A tour of the home will complement the dig, as you learn about the history of the Wynne-Russell Family and how Lilburn became what it is today.

The Society for Georgia Archaeology ArchaeoBUS will be on hand to provide further information about archaeology.

Wynne-Russell Historic Preservation Committee

The committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at the Wynne-Russell House. The next meeting is March 8 at 5:00 pm. Visitors and new members are welcome. Check out the FACEBOOK page for information on the Paranormal Workshop on April 22 and the upcoming spring and summer house tours.

Need a Gathering Place?

The Wynne-Russell House, a beautiful historic home, is a wonderful venue for seated meetings of 25-30 and larger groups such as family reunions, showers, and weddings of up to 50 inside and 100 on the grounds. The Art Alliance invites area residents to join their organization. Meetings and most workshops are held at the Wynne Russell House (4684 Wynne Russell Drive, NW, Lilburn, GA 30047). Guests are always welcome.

Students can work from set designs or from photos and books which the instructor will provide.

Side by Side Fundraiser

The Lilburn Woman's Club proudly supports Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse who will be having its 6th Annual Jawbones (Lawyers) vs. Sawbones (Doctors) Basketball Benefit Game Saturday, March 25, 2017, 6:30 pm  at Mercer University gymnasium.

Relay for Life/Lilburn Relay Rally is back this year!

The Lilburn Relay Rally is coming back to Lilburn City Park on April 21, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  Sponsored by the Lilburn Woman’s Club, this event is a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society’s Gwinnett Relay for Life.

Behind the Garden Gate Garden Tour

The Lilburn Woman's Club is pleased to announce the date of their 4th annual Behind the Garden Gate Garden Tour on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Tickets, which are $15 if purchased in advance, can be purchased online through Paypal by logging onto www.lilburnwomansclub.org  and clicking on the "Behind the Garden Gate" window from the navigator bar.  

The next Citizens SPLOST meeting will be on Wed. March 15th.

Senior homestead exemptions available

In Gwinnett there are several special homestead exemptions available for seniors to save money on property taxes. To learn more about the exemptions and their require­ments, visit www.GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com, email tax@gwinnettcounty.com, or call 770.822.8800. Apply online or request an application in person, by email, or by phone. The deadline for all applications is April 1.

Gwinnett 101 Registration Opens

Gwinnett 101 is a free program that seeks to develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in Gwinnett.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm beginning with an orientation on Tuesday, April 11 and ending with a graduation and recognition by the Gwin­nett County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, June 27.Applications are available online and must be received by March 3, 2017. Extension Plant Sale

The Gwinnett Extension is offering varieties of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, figs, apples, pomegranate, goji berry, native azaleas, and other landscape plants as part of its annual sale. Pecan trees and Titan blueberries, which produce blueberries the size of quarters, have also been added to the list of pre-order options. Orders will be tak­en through March 7.

Side by Side Fundraiser

The Lilburn Woman's Club proudly supports Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse who will be having its 6th Annual Jawbones (Lawyers) vs. Sawbones (Doctors) Basketball Benefit Game Saturday, March 25, 2017, 6:30 pm  at Mercer University gymnasium.

Relay for Life/Lilburn Relay Rally is back this year!

The Lilburn Relay Rally is coming back to Lilburn City Park on April 21, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  Sponsored by the Lilburn Woman’s Club, this event is a fund raiser for the American Cancer Society’s Gwinnett Relay for Life.

Form a Team, be a sponsor, be a supporter! Come meet with us and help us Paint our Town Purple!!

Participant registration for the event is free. Survivors will be honored at a reception at 5pm. Come to Lilburn City Park and join in the fun! There will be food, games, music, prizes and more!!

Behind the Garden Gate Garden Tour

The Lilburn Woman's Club is pleased to announce the date of their 4th annual Behind the Garden Gate Garden Tour on Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Tickets, which are $15 if purchased in advance, can be purchased online through Paypal by logging onto www.lilburnwomansclub.org  and clicking on the "Behind the Garden Gate" window from the navigator bar.  

The next Citizens SPLOST meeting will be on Wed. March 15th.

Senior homestead exemptions available

In Gwinnett there are several special homestead exemptions available for seniors to save money on property taxes. To learn more about the exemptions and their require­ments, visit www.GwinnettTaxCommissioner.com, email tax@gwinnettcounty.com, or call 770.822.8800. Apply online or request an application in person, by email, or by phone. The deadline for all applications is April 1.

Gwinnett 101 Registration Opens

Gwinnett 101 is a free program that seeks to develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in Gwinnett.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm beginning with an orientation on Tuesday, April 11 and ending with a graduation and recognition by the Gwin­nett County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, June 27.Applications are available online and must be received by March 3, 2017. Extension Plant Sale

The Gwinnett Extension is offering varieties of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, figs, apples, pomegranate, goji berry, native azaleas, and other landscape plants as part of its annual sale. Pecan trees and Titan blueberries, which produce blueberries the size of quarters, have also been added to the list of pre-order options. Orders will be tak­en through March 7.

All orders must be prepaid by cash or check and prepaid orders must be picked up on March 16 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Gwinnett Coun­ty Fairgrounds, 2406 Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville. Additional plants will also be available for purchase on pickup day.
