Distributed by Lilburn Community Partnership          December 17,  2016

With just a little over a week before Christmas, there are some great holiday events happening. Read about the invitation to the community from First Baptist Lilburn as you observe this special season.  Also, a hidden gem of an event is Staged Right's production of "Almost, Maine." As you make your final preparations please remember our local businesses with their unique and different offerings. Needless to say, let's remember our community's needy.

Merry Christmas

Please forward on to new neighbors and business owners.

This Weekend

On Dec. 24th all are invited to Christmas Eve Candleligth Service at 5:30 pm. and Dec. 25th - Christmas Day Monrning Worship Service at 10:30 am.  First Baptist is located at 285 Main Street in Lilburn.

Staged Right Production of "Almost, Maine"

Two performances remain- Saturday night at 8 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm; tickets are between $10 and $15  - and great small group seating. For ticket information, visit or e-mail Venue is located at 5331 Lawrenceville Hwy. in the Lilburn Square Shopping Center near the Dry Cleaners.

A Review:  This is not-to-be-missed holiday entertainment. Friday night's play was so well done; the crisp, cold air of Lilburn certainly helped transport attendees to Almost, Main. From there the actors took over with a series of poignant vignettes that tickled and challenged our inner selves. Lighting, sound effects, music and the set itself was professional and creative as Staged Right presented this first season tight-budgeted play in a made over retail space in Lilburn Square Shopping Center. Once started the production moved quickly with precision timing. Each scene was very entertaining with a thought provoking message and before one knew it, it was approaching 10 pm and time to bid adieu to our new stage friends.

The set, the music, the acting were incredible - hard to imagine that here in Lilburn we have attracted actors and stage support who have  experience in a variety of well-known community theatres: New Dawn, Lionheart, New London, Horizon, Aurora, Live Arts, and Alliance, to name a few. Yes, real theatre is here reaching out to our community - time for our community to check them out.  - DP

Another review:  “ What a delightful confection of a show. Heather Kapp, Ilene Miller, Joshua Howe, Paul Franklin, Deidre Odell, and Jimmy Groove turn in hilarious and heartwarming performances, with some brilliant physical comedy thrown in. Spencer Estes's set makes perfect use of the intimate space. Kudos to director Robbie Summerour for concocting a wonderful way to start the holidays….This is a truly sweet show. No wonder it's one of the most produced plays in America. And Staged Right does a great job with it.”

From the Website:  “On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful midwinter night's dream.” (From the Publisher's Website) Directed by Staged Right's founder, Robbie Summerour, "Almost Maine" is the perfect holiday treat!

When "Almost, Maine" closes, Staged Right will begin preparations for "A Doll's House" to be performed in the Wynne-Russell House in March, 2017. Auditions will be Jan. 3 and 4 in the evening at the Wynne-Russell House. go to the website for more info:

Candlelight Tours of McDaniel Farm

Dec. 17, 18, 20, 21- 7 pm until 8:30 pm.

Location:     3251 McDaniel Road

Duluth, GA 30096

Guests must pre-register!

Publisher's Note:  Recently my husband and I took the tour and found it to be a great experience for family groups and out of town guests. We spent around 45 minutes touring the out buildings - barn with farming implements, smoke house, blacksmith's shed and ended with a leisurely tour of the house complete with hot cider/chocolate and a take home craft. While it wasn't lit with real candles - it was better with the battery lighted candles and LED laterns.  Really fun, informative and highly recommended. - DP
