Parkview High School
Parkview Football and Baseball have teamed up in a fundraiser and are selling firewood. Information on how to buy the firewood is below:
- Per Stick: .80 cents A Bundle is 10 sticks
- Per Bundle (1 to 12 bundles) are $8.00 each
- Per bundle (13 or more bundles) are $6.50 each
- Small Pallet (one truck load): $125 each
- Large Pallet: $225
All the prices above are U-load / U-haul prices

Academic Decathlon
On Thursday, Jan. 14th, the Parkview Academic Decathlon team won in competition with several other district teams in the county. The winning team members were Angad Joshi, Jack Wang, Jordon White, Lauren Silvers, Shu Jin Zhao, Jared Welser, Jordan Billie, Asher Aloni and Lance Ballentine.
The district win is the first step toward their dream of representing Georgia at the USAD National competition that will be help in Anchorage, Alaska during the last week of April. The Parkview team now moves on to state competition in February that will be held at Berkmar High School.

AARP Smart Driver Course
Thursdays, February 24, April 28, June 30, August 25 from 9:00am to 3:30pm. Any age with a valid Driver's License. After completion of the course, you may be eligible for a 10 percent discount on your auto insurance depending on your driving record. Cost: $15 for AARP members or $20 for non-AARP members. AARP Tax Aid - FREE!
Tuesdays and Thursdays: February 2 through April 14 from 9:00am to noon. First come, first serve basis. Trained and certified volunteers will prepare your federal and state income tax return. Please bring a copy of all previous year forms indicating federal income tax paid, including W-2 forms from each employer, and all 1099 and 1095 forms. If you were paid Social Security benefits, bring your SSA-1099. If you received a pension or annuity, bring your 1099R. If applicable, unemployment compensation statements, child care provider information (name, employer ID, and SSN), mortgage interest paid, charitable contributions, and Social Security numbers for all dependents. AARP Tax Aid is administered by the AARP Foundation.

Gwinnett 101 gives residents an up-close look at county government
Have you ever wondered why a fire truck responds to your medical emergency? Or why the County has a SPLOST program? Or how clean water gets to your house? The Gwinnett 101: Citizens Academy can help answer those questions and more.
Gwinnett County Government is accepting applications for the spring 2016 class of Gwinnett 101. It's a free program designed to develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in Gwinnett. Class members will get a first-hand glimpse of how the County works and build a network with others who live, work, and learn in Gwinnett County.
Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm beginning with an orientation on April 12 and ending with graduation and recognition by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on June 28.
You must be at least 18 years old and be a resident and/or business owner in Gwinnett or attend a Gwinnett college or university to apply. You must also have an interest in learning about county government and be able to attend all sessions. Class size is limited to 30 participants who will be chosen by a selection committee.
Applications are available online at www.gwinnett101.com and must be received by Tuesday, March 1 in order to participate in the spring 2016 session.

The Election season is underway, so make sure your voter registration is up to date. Please take note of the upcoming elections:

To register to vote in Georgia, you must be a citizen of the United States, a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote, and at least 18 years old by Election Day.

Free Workshop: Fix a Leak
March 15, 2016 7 pm - 8:30 pm. Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.
HIgh water bills are often caused by leaks inside or outside the home. Learn how to perform a test that will tell you if your home has a leak. We'll explain how to track down a leak and demonstrate simple repairs you can do yourself. A licensed plubmber will be on hand to answer your questions and all attendees will receive a free low-flow home retrofit kit.
