Spring is here...enjoy while you can!OK we are tired of cold, wet and rainy!! It's hard to imagine that in another six weeks, we may be sweltering in heat and praying for rain! That's our Georgia weather, from winter to a few mild spring weeks and then the heat! So let's take some time during these pleasant days to do what we can to beautify our Lilburn footprint - it might be our own yard or the some of the highways and by-ways that need a little love. Where ever, cleaning-up is a great way to get fresh air and excercise and the satisfaction of knowing that we have done our part to show our pride in the environs which we call home. From Gwinnett Village CID Jimmy Carter I-85 Crossover Weekend Schedule: Bridge Closure Friday, March 20- At 9 p.m. the bridge will close for the weekend as crews change the traffic pattern. Monday, March 23- The bridge will reopen at 5 a.m. with the diverging diamond traffic pattern. This closure is dependent on weather conditions. An inclement weather construction date is scheduled for March 27-30. During the weekend, the bridge WILL BE CLOSED to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Cars will still be able to turn right onto and off of the interstate. Construction will continue on the interchange through the Spring. Project Information The Diverging Diamond design works with the existing bridge footprint, but improves efficiency by rerouting traffic on the bridge and eliminating left turn signals. In the two previously completed diverging diamonds, traffic at the interchange was significantly reduced as a result of the improved efficiency. We understand that this is a movement with which many drivers are unaccustomed. Additional signage and police officers will be onsite for the initial period while drivers familiarize themselves with the new traffic pattern.
